Well the big day is finally here it's 8/3/2012 my due date. I have not started on my own so I am going in to be induced, we got the call from the hospital around 8am to come on in. Mom came over to grab the kids and we took one last family picture before we add our new little addition.
At 9am and we are all checked in at the hospital, I tested positive for strep B so I need the antibiotic before I can start pitocin. Now this is were things get fun. We have no insurance so I have decided to save a few thousand I will do this with no epidural lets see how it goes. I am a little nerves but have been reading and do feel some what prepared.
So pitocin started around two, I was feeling good so Shawn and I walk around for a while came back to the room and I stated listing to my taps. The nurse came in around 5 and checks me. I was still at a 3, at this point I was getting nerves that I would not progress on my own. I had been at a three for the last three weeks. The nurse told us that the midwife wife would be here around 6 and she would break my water.
My midwife got ti the hospital at 6:30 and broke my water and turned off the pitocin at that point my contractions got much stronger but I felt like I was handling it ok. She unhooked me from all the stuff and told me I could try the tub. I was not planing on that but at that point I was ready for anything that might help me keep my mind off the pain. So in the tub I went, I tried staying very focused, then I stared to feel very hot and like I might pass out. Out I went on to the bed sat on the edge of a min to pass a contraction and then all of a sudden felt the need to push. And with one push and a scream the head was out and then HIS body.
Yes we welcomed a beautiful baby boy to out family August 3 @ 8:20 weighing in at 7lb 5oz he is perfect. What a great way to spend our anniversary 11 years and five kido's.
The kids could not get enough of him they just thought he was wonderful. Now when it was time for him to get a bath a had been telling the kids they could go down and watch him but now the hospital is a locked down facility. But to my amazement they bath they baby's right in your room. Our nurse was so sweet she let all the kids pull up a chair and help. That was the neatest thing ever something they will never forget. Fun too as a mom because that is something I have never been able to see, but to watch all my kids up there helping is was so sweet. The video says it all!!
